Biography

Born and raised in Cornwall, Lloyd started singing at the age of seven, when he was known as “Cornwall’s Boy Soprano” and to this day is still fondly remembered by many as such. Of course, back then he was known by his first christian name, Marc. An early admirer was Dame Daphne Du Maurier, who, living nearby, frequently invited him to her home for afternoon tea…an honour not lost on the young lad.

Back then he was a constant figure on the county’s concert scene and at music festivals very successful, and after repeated requests from the public he recorded his first solo album ‘Marc Sings For You‘, which was then followed by the eagerly awaited second  album, ‘Memories‘. With such varied recordings as Pie Jesu, Annie’s Song and Mozart’s Allelujah, the albums were popular on the radio, and there then followed several appearances on TV.

A few years later, Lloyd’s singing career was put on hold when he studied Law at the University of Kent. However, performing was never far away and after graduating with his Law degree he decided to make a career change to perform professionally.

Since then he has toured Holland, Cyprus and South Africa not to mention having toured Britain several times over. Favourite shows include Riverdance, Sweeney Todd, Beauty & the Beast, Tess of the D’Urbervilles, The Magic Flute and  Live at the London Palladium

Although he now resides in London, Cornwall has proved the inspiration for much in his life and Lloyd has found time to venture west for various projects in recent years: to take the lead at the Minack Theatre in “The Sorceror“; to Bude for the Pan-Celtic Festival Concert to sing music especially written for him ; to Plymouth Pavilions and the Hall for Cornwall as one of  ‘Ireland’s Three Tenors‘, the special guests with international hit-show “Spirit of the Dance”. Lloyd returned to the Hall for Cornwall in 2007 when he was

invited to take the lead in “Turning of the Tide”, a new musical

When the CD was released for ‘Ireland’s Three Tenors‘, many people were asking when Lloyd would be releasing his own solo album. There had been several other recordings; most notably the release of a charity CD for the RNLI & Air Ambulance called ‘Cornwall-the-Song‘, the album ‘Forget Me Not’, for the charity of the same name, and the album which accompanied the Spirit of the Dance tour, ‘Ireland’s Three Tenors - The Ultimate Collection’ and later the follow-on tour, ‘Ireland’s 12 Tenors’. But no solo album.

So a return to the recording studio marked the debut of ‘In Whatever Time We Have’, showcasing many of the well-loved songs from his concerts.

Lloyd is now enjoying promoting the album, whilst continuing to work closely with Marie Curie Cancer Care, touring the country and raising money for the charity. He is also appearing in ‘The Voice of Tomorrow’ at the Bloomsbury Theatre, London, later this year.
